Lockdown Race Nights – Horse Race Downloads Friends and Family Entertainment

What the world is going through at the moment with Covid-19 is horrible and here in the UK is no exception. As a company that provides fundraising materials via our Race Night Services we are fully aware of the impact that it is having on this important sector.

What we are finding is that people are using our virtual race night downloads for both fundraising and for fun entertainment while in lockdown.

Lockdown Virtual Fun Ideas – Online Family Fun Things To Do

Here are a couple of examples of what people are doing.

Fundraising Online – NHS and Charities

With a lot of people making a donation to the justgiving.com website and funds going to the NHS link.

Get everybody who is taking part to link up to Zoom / Google Hangouts / Facebook / Skype etc.

The person who has made the download acts as the host for the evening and works out the timings and the payouts.

Each person to donate £10 for taking part, for instance 25 people over 10 households brings in £250. Donate £50 to the NHS this leaves you £200 in prize money or £25 a race if showing 8 races.

Each person bets £1 per race  on a horse number 1 to 8 (remember you can give the runners fun names in advance if you want, but the commentary is by number e.g. 5 leads from 8)

At the end of the race the winning number only pays out, so if for instance 5 people backed the winning number in this example number 7 for their £1 bet they would each receive £5.  £25 divided by 5 winning tickets = £5.

If 10 people had a winning bet they would receive £2.50. £25 divided by 10 winning tickets = £2.50

By sticking to these rules you will never pay out more money that what you brought in and by not offering odds you have complied with the legislation of running a race night without the need for a licence.

Family Entertainment Birthdays, Anniversaries and Google Meets

Race Nights for FUN and Entertainment a lot of people are doing this to celebrate family birthdays, anniversaries etc.

Get everybody who is taking part to link up to Zoom / Google Hangouts / Facebook / Skype etc.

The person who has made the download acts as the host for the evening and works out the timings and the fun money payouts.

Each person is allocated 3 x £10 fun money bets on each race on three different runners (one £10 bet per runner) and the following applies if a selection by that person finishes first odds of 10/1, a selection finishes second odds of 5/1, a selection finishes third odds of 2/1

£10 on the winner odds of 10/1 = £100

£10 on second place odds of 5/1 = £50

£10 on third place odds of 2/1 = £20

Some people could have first, second and third, some first and third, some just second etc it adds to the fun by keeping an updated score card it brings the Sport of Kings to your household(s) event.

At the end of the racing the person with the most fun money wins a prize, you can have fun deciding what this is and present it at a after Lockdown celebration (it will happen eventually)
